Communication Materials

The aim of this group is to exchange skills and learning on effective GBV prevention communication materials. Activities include: adaptation of existing materials, strengthening capacity of group members to create effective communication materials, developing regional campaigns, and sharing lessons learned and promising practices with the larger Network and beyond.The group met at the GBV Prevention Network’s AWID Forum Satellite Meeting to discuss the following:

  • Plans for the group for 2009.
  • Adaptation of various tools and methodologies to the regional context.
  • A session of ‘In-Her-Shoes’ toolkit.

From 11th – 15th April this year, members of the Thematic Working Group on communication materials met in Kampala for a special hands on training that involved participants creating their own materials! The 28 participants successfully created 5 new communication materials that are now available for all members of the Network to print and use in your prevention programs. The materials cover the areas of gender roles, power, provision of PEP services, and bride price and samples can be viewed below:
