The GBV Prevention Network is a dynamic group of activists and practitioners committed to preventing gender- based violence in the Horn, East and Southern Africa.
We are over 220 members strong – coming from 24 different countries – all of us committed to and working toward a world free of gender-based violence. We are:
The GBV Prevention Network is a vibrant space for innovation, expertise, experience sharing and exchange on GBV prevention.
Background: The need for a space to connect and share became apparent during a Regional Dialogue hosted by Raising Voices and UN-Habitat’s Safer Cities Program in 2003. Out of that realization, the GBV Prevention Network was born.
Values, Vision and Objectives: The work of the Network and its members is carefully crafted with the Network’s values, vision, and objectives clearly in focus.
Network’s Structure: The Network is structured so as to be most effective for its members. There is a Leadership Committee guiding the work of the Network, as well as Focal NGOs in each country, connecting directly and regularly with all Network members.
