Skills Building

Through the Thematic Working Groups, Network members can strengthen their skills in specific areas of interest. The aim of the Skills-Building Activities of the GBV Prevention Network is to increase quality and effectiveness of GBV prevention programming in the region. To date, the Network has held the following trainings:

  • 2008 Training: Strengthening Skills for Research on VAW - Understanding the sensitivities and complexities twenty three participants got familiar with theoretical concepts and gained practical skills to equip them to conduct credible research on GBV within the region. This was the second training for the Research and M&E Thematic Working Group.
  • 2008 Training: Developing Effective Communication Materials - To gain analytical and practical skills in developing effective materials for GBV prevention, 29 members participated in a training held by the Communication Materials Thematic Working group and facilitated by Raising Voices .
  • 2007 Training: Strengthening Skills for Research on GBV - The Research and M&E Thematic Working Group conducted their first training in researching violence against women. The training strengthened participant’s capacity to participate in GBV research activities.
