Haben means ‘proud to be able to help others’. Haben works with rural communities to strengthen local capacities and initiatives by working in partnership with community groups and implementing agencies in the field of rural development.

Haben aims to complement the Government’s efforts to help the Eritrean people attain self-reliance by tackling the root causes of poverty and the effects of war and drought throught the promotion of sustainable development.

  • To actively participate in the development of local skills and resources so as to improve the livelihoods of the most disadvantaged members of the community (i.e. older people, women and children).
  • To train health care providers to enable them to respond and address gender-based violence in their service provision.
Strategies/Activities to prevent GBV: 

Development of a curriculum to train health care workers provide quality services to GBV survivors. Training of health care providers and follow-up support.
