Mission and Key Objectives: 

? To promote community based awareness and information sharing systems to bring about behavioral changes regarding social harmful practices such FGM ? In collaboration with the Regional Education Bureau improve the basic education standard of mothers and children in the region and upgrade their vocational skills , literacy and innumeracy skills and managerial skills through training programmes ? Through working with the Regional Health Bureau improve the health condition of mothers and children and reduce the transmission and the social impact of HIV/AIDS,STDs and HTPs including FGM and promote public awareness through health education. . ? To support and promote social services e.g development, health, education, economy etc. for the people living in the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia who are affected by natural and man-made disasters and develop responsive mechanisms. ? Create alternative livelihood coping activities for vulnerable women and support them to improve their household income.

Strategies/Activities to prevent GBV: 

? Male involvement and in and out of school boys , and encourage to marry uncircumcised girls ? Support of model families by providing IGAs ? Provide more IEC/BCC materials ? Encourage religious leaders to come in a common agreement of total eradication of FGM/C ? Legal and customary enforcement based on the constitution on all forms of HTPs ? Transformation of practitioners to TTBAs ? Discussion forums and task force on FGM

Key Lessons: 

? Improved attitudinal change towards FGM practice ? Religious leaders and Male involvement promoted better community acceptance ? Discussion forum and Task force created information sharing among stakeholders
