Part of the exchange and learning component of the Network are the Speakers Events. These are brief events, where resource persons engage Network members in a particular country to create awareness or enhance skills on various GBV prevention issues.

Network Members Meet in Dar es Salaam
On Friday 10th June 2011, Network members in Dar es Salaam had a great opportunity to interact, network and learn more about what different organisations in the region are doing towards the prevention of violence against women. Kennedy Otina Odhiambo the Coordinator of the Regional Men-to-Men program in FEMNET in Nairobi travelled to Tanzania as part of his work engaging men in the region in violence against women programmes under the men to men project. Kennedy contacted us at the Coordinating Office to find out if this was a good opportunity to meet other Network members from Dar es Salaam as he would be spending a night there and had an extra half day off from his schedule. Of course we were excited and jumped at the chance. We contacted Ann Meela, Programme Officer at Women in Women in Law and Development in Africa WiLDAF, who readily agreed to host the event. The function was a success. Participants were inspired by Kennedy’s presentations, both about the Network and his organisational work engaging men. It was the first time all the members of the Network in Dar es Salam had a chance to meet. Click here to find out a bit more about this event!
