‘Reloaded’ Action and Advocacy Kit
The Network’s 2nd Action and Advocacy Kit for the “reloaded” 16 Days campaign is ready. This kit will inspire you and your organizations to carry on the theme of “Everyone, Everyday, Every Way: Prevent Violence Against Women Your Way!” through International Women’s Day and throughout the year. The materials are designed to take last year’s theme further by translating it into action! The contents of this kit explore what “Activism Is…” and provide specific ideas on actions that everyone can take, every day, in every way to prevent violence against women. The aim is to build everyday activists who use their power in a positive way to create collective change in society.
To this end, the 16 Days “reloaded” Action and Advocacy Kits for 2012 contain the following items:
- In Her Shoes Toolkit for Reflecting on Violence Against Women in Sub-Saharan Africa: This is a brand new resource and powerful activism tool for increasing understanding of VAW amongst staff, partners, service providers and community members. The Toolkit is an easy-to-use methodology which inspires deep reflection, dialogue, and action amongst diverse audiences by allowing them to “walk in the shoes” of ten different women experiencing all forms of violence against women.
- 2012 calendar: The “Activism Is…” calendar contains 12 different ideas (one for each month!) for activism which everyone can do to prevent violence against women, every day, in every way.
- PowerPoint presentation: This presentation is designed to use with staff within your organizations or amongst partners to foster personal reflection about their own role as activists in their private and professional lives.
- Training Session: This Facilitator’s Guide gives instructions for facilitating training on “Everyday Activism” which helps participants understand how they can be activists to prevent violence against women in their everyday lives.
- Advocacy Tips: This concise resource highlights some basic essentials for conducting effective advocacy for prevention of violence against women and offers practical ideas for practicing advocacy skills within your organization.
- T-shirts: Designed with the campaign theme, activists can wear these t-shirts or distribute them to others as a visual reminder that everyone, every day, every way can make a difference.
- Stickers: Place these around your office, town, or community as another visual reminder to take action today to prevent violence against women.
We thank you for your inspiration, dedication and activism during the entire “reloaded” 16 Days of Activism campaign. We look forward to hearing your experiences of activism in 2012!
